Salary: £22,014 FTE (£13,089)
Hours: 22 hours per week
Contract: Fixed term for 1 year (September 2022)

Northumberland County Blind Association offers free, confidential and impartial advice online, over the phone, in person and to community groups. We help with everything from providing equipment such as magnifiers, to demonstrating the benefits of using technology to those who have never engaged before.
We have a vacancy for an Energy advisor within our Energy Project Team.
The advisor provides ways in which people can make simple energy savings in the home by organising home visits and events at community groups throughout Northumberland.
To enable those with visual impairment improve their energy management and understanding of energy, the energy advisor will organise and deliver pop-up IT sessions in the community demonstrating apps and technology to help accessibility and usage of tablets and PC’s.
The Energy Project provides advice and information on a range of energy related issues including reducing energy costs through tariff comparison and switching.
The main functions delivered by the NCBA advisor:
- Increase client’s knowledge of energy saving measures by developing excellent relationships with clients and organising community and group events
- Helping clients become confident in using technology to enable them to use online apps to compare energy prices and save money.
- To demonstrate and issue magnifiers and other equipment to enable clients to manage their energy controls, read their meters and bills with confidence.
Part of the role will include signposting relevant clients to Citizen’s advice for the income maximization, addressing debt or payment issues and promotion of energy saving measures.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with relevant experience of providing advice and information and a desire to develop learning further. Full training will be given to deliver the sensory equipment element. You will have exceptional communication skills and excellent IT skills and enjoy presenting ideas to individuals and groups.
